Ergonomics Check Point
The most appropriate way to provide a place for each tool should be based on its size, shape, and weight. It can be a special shelf or drawer, a particular spot on a shelf, a container, a tool cart, a hook on the wall, suspended from a structure above the head, or a tool board. For large tools, a place should also be provided, avoid placing them on the floor. In the case of small tools, provide a board for placing them or special containers in which each of them has its own place. In the case of a board, the outline of each tool can be drawn to show where they go or indicate their locations with labels. In any case, the more a tool is used, the closer its "spot" should be to the workplace where it is used.
Sets of small tools or components of the same type (such as tapes, drills, cutters, etc.) can be stored in special boxes, in drawers or compartments with labels or clear identification for each of them. Portable toolboxes, carts or mobile shelves should be used to store tools in case a worker or a group of workers frequently change their workplace. In the case of suspended tools, they do not pile up on the workbench, they can be comfortably picked up and always return, automatically, to their "spot".
